Criminal Justice

Studying criminal justice can open the door to many career opportunities in law enforcement, legal studies, courts, and security. To start a higher education program in Criminal Justice, individuals should already know the subject and be able to demonstrate an understanding of basic laws and concepts. The majority of education programs also require applicants to have a high school diploma or GED, and some may also require an entrance exam. Depending on the level of the program, applicants may also need to provide transcripts, proof of work experience, and/or letters of recommendation. An understanding of the criminal justice system is essential and an ability to research and communicate both verbally and in writing is beneficial. It may also be beneficial for individuals to have an understanding of the court system, laws, criminal justice research, and the principles of criminology. Finally, a passion to pursue the program and the drive to excel in the field is a must.
