EducationDirectory.net is owned and operated by Education Directory, LLC ("Education Directory," "we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and protect personal information when you visit EducationDirectory.net, submit a request for education-related information, communicate with us or otherwise use our website and related services (the "Services").
The Services are intended for individuals located in the United States who are at least 18 years old.
Information you provide. When you complete a form or communicate with us, we may collect your name, email address, telephone number, mailing address or ZIP code, date of birth or graduation year, educational history, degree and program interests, preferred learning format and enrollment timeframe, military or veteran affiliation, employment or professional-license information, responses to qualification and matching questions, communication preferences, and other information you choose to provide.
We do not request Social Security numbers, financial-account credentials, payment-card information, medical records, health-insurance information or government identification numbers through the Services, and ask that you not submit them.
Information collected automatically. We and our service providers collect technical and usage information when you use the Services, including IP address, browser and device information, approximate location, referring source, pages viewed, form and website interactions, dates and times of visits, cookie and advertising identifiers, campaign and attribution data, and information used to detect duplicate, automated, invalid or suspicious activity.
Information from other sources. We may receive information from advertising and referral partners, schools, education matching and distribution partners, consent-verification services and fraud-prevention providers, and we may combine it with information collected through the Services.
We use personal information to:
A match or referral does not guarantee admission, enrollment, financial aid, employment, professional licensure or any other result.
We disclose personal information to:
Disclosures to schools, education providers and distribution partners are made for compensation and constitute a sale or sharing of personal information under certain state privacy laws. These parties process your information under their own privacy policies, and we encourage you to review the policy of each party that contacts you.
When you submit a form, the disclosure presented with that form explains which parties may contact you and the methods they may use. Depending on the consent you provide, Education Directory or the parties identified in that disclosure may contact you by telephone, email or text message. Where expressly disclosed and authorized, communications may use automated technology, prerecorded messages or artificial voice.
This Privacy Policy alone does not constitute consent to receive automated calls or text messages. The consent language presented when you submit your information controls.
You may unsubscribe from promotional email using the link in the message, reply STOP to a text message where that option is provided, or email privacy@educationdirectory.net to revoke consent for communications made by or on behalf of Education Directory. Because schools and other recipients process your information independently, you may also need to opt out directly with each party that contacts you.
We and companies working on our behalf use cookies, pixels, tags, scripts and similar technologies to operate and secure the website, remember settings, understand how visitors use the Services, measure form submissions and advertising performance, attribute visits to referral sources, verify consent, prevent fraud, and personalize or measure advertising where permitted.
You may control certain cookies through your browser settings and through the privacy-choice tool on our website, though blocking cookies may affect functionality. Some advertising and analytics disclosures may be considered a sale, sharing or targeted advertising under state privacy law. You may exercise applicable opt-out rights through the Your Privacy Choices link in the website footer.
Where required by law, we recognize qualifying browser-based opt-out preference signals such as Global Privacy Control. Such a signal applies only to the browser or device that sends it. Because there is no accepted standard for general "Do Not Track" signals, the Services may not respond to them.
We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, based on why it was collected, its sensitivity, whether your request has been completed, our need to document submissions and consent, fraud-prevention and contractual requirements, applicable legal obligations and limitation periods, and any pending or reasonably anticipated dispute. We retain suppression records as necessary to honor opt-outs, and lead and consent records as necessary to document requests, investigate complaints and defend claims. When information is no longer reasonably necessary, we delete, deidentify or aggregate it, subject to legal-preservation obligations and ordinary backup cycles.
We maintain administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information from unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration or disclosure. No website, transmission method or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Depending on your state of residence and applicable legal thresholds and exceptions, you may have the right to confirm whether we process your personal information; access, correct or delete it; obtain a portable copy; learn the categories collected, their sources, purposes and recipients; opt out of sale, sharing and targeted advertising; opt out of profiling in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects; limit certain uses of sensitive personal information; withdraw consent; appeal a denied request; and exercise these rights without unlawful discrimination. These rights are not absolute and may not apply in every circumstance.
Submitting a request. Use the Your Privacy Choices link in the website footer, or email privacy@educationdirectory.net. Identify the right you wish to exercise and provide enough information for us to locate the relevant records. We may take reasonable steps to verify your identity, and will use verification information only to process the request, prevent fraud and maintain required records. You may use an authorized agent where permitted by law; we may require proof of the agent's authority and direct verification of your identity.
We respond within the period required by applicable law. If your request is denied and your state provides a right to appeal, email privacy@educationdirectory.net with the subject line Privacy Request Appeal.
If you are a California resident, our Privacy Notice for California Residents supplements this policy and controls where the two differ. It describes the categories of personal information we collect, sell, share and disclose; our treatment of sensitive personal information; and how to exercise your rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act.
We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 18.
The Services are intended for individuals who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided personal information through the Services, email privacy@educationdirectory.net.
The Services may link to websites operated by schools, education providers, advertisers or other third parties. We do not control and are not responsible for their content, security, communications or privacy practices. Review the applicable third party's privacy policy before providing information directly to it.
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our Services, practices, technology or legal obligations. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date. Where required by law, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent before applying a materially different practice to information previously collected.
